Recall Issued on 30,929 Volvo S60s

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the luxury automotive brand Volvo is recalling 30,929 2011-2012 S60s, which were manufactured from June 22, 2010 to May 14, 2012. These vehicles include a 5-cylinder B5254T5 engine, which reportedly may not alert the driver of a low oil-pressure situation, leading to the vehicle stalling, and increasing the chances of an accident.

Volvo has begun notifying the owners of these vehicles, along with dealerships, and offering a free software update so the oil pressure gauge will properly notify drivers of low oil pressure. While Volvo has traditionally been one of the leaders in automotive safety, this large recall could damage their outstanding reputation. Of course, this is not the first time a recall has been issued on Volvo vehicles, in fact, 7,767 2014 Volvo S60, S80, XC60 and XC70 vehicles were recently recalled because of a software problem causing the turn signals and headlights to malfunction.
