For the sixth year in a row, Oliver Law Firm hosted our annual Closing Argument Competition at the firm’s offices in Rogers on Saturday, October 4.
The competition kicked off at 9 a.m. with a group of students from University of Arkansas School of Law competing to win cash prizes while they further their skills in advocacy.
“This competition provides a wonderful opportunity for students to study an issue, prepare an argument, and present that argument,” 2012 judge John Scott said of the event.
“Today’s students need events like this one to use their skills learned in various classes to learn, organize, and deliver a complete presentation. The students are excited to be able to participate in the Annual closing Argument competition and to get a feel for the courtroom. They also learn from the critiques of their arguments by the competition judges,” said Scott.
The winners of this year’s competition are as follows: Geoff Hamby, 1st place – $1,500; Travis Adams, 2nd Place – $500; Aundrea Hanna, (Tie) 3rd Place – $250; Lauren Summerhill, (Tie) 3rd Place – $250.
From all of us at Oliver Law Firm, congratulations on a successful Closing Argument Competition! We look forward to seeing what these bright young minds bring to the legal field in the years to come!
